Dr. David Feldman, PhD

An Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology at Santa Clara University and a licensed psychologist, I have a small private practice in Los Altos, California, where I work with adults facing life challenges including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, and caregiver stress. I also work with highly educated professionals on issue of personal meaning and purpose as well as life and career choices.

Entering therapy means making the decision to change your life. It means asserting your belief, however small that this belief may sometimes seem, that things can get better.

What I offer

If you’re experiencing any of the following, I may be able to help:

  • Anxiety or panic
  • Depression
  • Serious physical illness and caregiver stress
  • Grief and Loss
  • Trauma or PTSD

I also work with highly educated and motivated professionas on issues such as life meaning and purpose, achieving goals, work-related stress, and other coaching-related issues.

Research shows that about 75% of people who enter therapy are better off for having done so.

My Approach

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, evidence-based, and informed by positive psychological principles. In short, I balance approaches based on the latest available research with a tailored understanding of each person. And that is very important to me.

How to Choose a Therapist

Whatever your reasons for seeing therapy, you deserve to find a therapist who fits you. Think of your first few session with a therapist as a mutual assessment. Here are five questions that I would encourage you to ask yourself when considering whether a therapist is a good “fit” for you.

Ask me any question

If you would like to contact me, please feel free to call or email. In general, it is best to contact me by phone, due to the insecure nature of email and the need to maintain confidentiality. If you choose to email, please be sure to include your phone number in the message, because I will likely call you back.
